Responsible production

WE DO NOT ENVISAGE a trade-off between profit and people, or between manufacture and environmental responsibility. These issues are major factors in our choice of suppliers.

As with most other clothing brands, we don't own the factories in which our clothing is made. However, together with these garment factories, we bear the responsibility to provide a safe, fair and ethical working environment for all the people who are involved in the manufacture of our clothes.

We work together with only a handful of partners, all of whom are required to comply with our code of conduct. Our membership of Fair Wear Foundation is a key element ensuring that everyone across the production chain works under fair conditions.

FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION
Fair Wear Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization striving to improve working conditions in the textile industry.
The foundation is an initiative by trade organizations in the textile sector, trade unions and NGO's. Fair Wear Foundation verifies that member companies implement a Code of Labour Practice along their supply chain and checks compliance by monitoring audits and remediation efforts. Annual reporting by member companies and by FWF itself promotes transparency at all levels. Nudie Jeans is a member since November 2009.

GOTS
The majority of the organic denim used by Nudie Jeans is certified by GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard).

The aim of the GOTS standards is to define requirements that are worldwide recognized. This is to certify the authenticity of organic textiles and to give a credible assurance to the end consumer.

Our dry organic jeans are GOTS certified through our suppliers. This means that the whole production chain, from cotton to a pair of jeans, is certified.

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100
The Oeko-Tex Standard 100 is a globally uniform testing and certification system for raw materials, intermediate and end products at all stages of textile production. Oeko-Tex certification assures that textiles do not contain any harmful substances that are prohibited or regulated by law nor chemicals otherwise known to be harmful.

All our denim weavers are certified according to Oeko-Tex Standard 100.
