Nudie Jeans’ climate targets in the newly released STICA Progress report 2021
In 2019 we joined Swedish Textile Initiative for Climate Action (STICA) and today the first Progress report is released! Together with 40 Nordic apparel and textile companies, we set a new industry standard to reduce climate impact in line with the 1.5-degree ambition.
The Progress report focuses on scope 1 and 2 and the related targets, which covers the first steps that need to be taken in the climate work.
When starting Nudie Jeans’ emissions mapping for our base year 2018, we set a high ambition of including all our emissions in scope 1, 2, and 3. This means our own emissions and energy use, as well as the emissions and energy use in the full supply chain, including transports and user phase of our products. We aimed at collecting as much actual data as possible to be able to track real changes made by our suppliers in the data. For our base year, 83% of our total emissions are based on actual data from our shops, offices, suppliers, and carriers.
By committing to publicly setting science-informed targets and by committing to reducing GHGs in line with the 1.5-degree warming pathway, we are demonstrating our serious commitment to climate action.
Nudie Jeans climate goals:
1. Reduce scope 1 and 2 GHG emission by 51% to 2030
2. Reduce scope 3 GHG emissions by 68,3% per product to 2030*
*with an assumption of a 3,8% growth per year. The base year 2018.
We cannot achieve our climate goals without the support and engagement of our partners, suppliers, and key stakeholders. We, therefore, call upon the Swedish, Nordic, and global apparel industry and stakeholders to join us on the 1.5 ⁰C degree pathway and to work ambitiously for reductions and industry innovation.
