They are equipped with an elastic band at the waist with which the size can be adjusted as the kiddo grows. Keen on knowing more about the selvedge denim used for these jeans, and why is only half-selvedge? You got it:

The denim is woven by Europe's selvedge powerhouse Candiani. It has a deep, pure indigo, blue hue, and a rustic ring-spun character. At 15 oz the denim is extra durable, but quite heavy, especially for kids' jeans. To counteract the stiffness of the heavy denim we have rinsed off the starch, making the jeans comfier from the get-go.

The half-selvedge might sound different, but it is quite nifty. Since kids' jeans are tiny, placing all leg pattern pieces along the selvedge results in unused fabric in the middle. By utilizing the selvedge for only half of the leg pattern pieces, we maximize fabric efficiency. We've come across a fair share of vintage jeans designed this way, so back in the day it was not all that uncommon. It was likely used for the same reason we do, but it may also have been used to add shape to the leg.

How to return

If you're not happy with the items you received you can return them to us within 14 days (30 days if a member of c/o Nudie Jeans). The items must be unworn in their original condition and with all tags attached. You register your return by visiting www.nudiejeans.com/returns and in our mission to lessen our environmental footprint, we’ve decided to charge a fee for returns. The return fee for your location is 22 CAD.

It's important that you return your product in the same condition you received it. This means labels still attached, and no visible wear marks. Sealed packages with underwear or socks for which the seal has been broken by you can't be returned.

What is dry denim?

Dry denim, also referred to as "raw" denim or unwashed denim, refers to a pair of untreated denim, which means they have not been washed or bleached. So instead of creating a worn-in look at the laundry facility you break in these jeans yourself. It's a long-term commitment and the outcome will depend on how much you wear them. With time you'll get a personal pair of jeans with whiskers, honeycombs and fading created by your lifestyle.

Below are some tips and tricks to help you with your dry denim journey.

Prevent Dry Bleeding
Dry denim’s deep indigo dye often transfers onto other surfaces—this is called “bleeding.” To protect your shoes from unsightly stains you can:

Cuff your jeans: Roll the hem to create a buffer between your denim and your shoes. This is especially helpful for lighter footwear like sneakers or tan leather boots.
Tape: Taping the inside of your jeans is an efficient solution to avoid dry bleeding. Remember to remove tape before washing!

The First Wash
One of the defining features of dry denim is the fade pattern that develops over time. To achieve sharp contrasts in high-wear areas (like knees and pockets):

Wait at least 6 months before the first wash. This allows the fabric to soften and molds the fades to your unique movements.
Spot clean instead of soaking: If your jeans get stained early on, use a damp cloth to dab away dirt without disrupting the indigo.

Size and Fit
Dry denim starts stiff but will stretch over time, molding to your body. When buying a pair, keep the shrinkage in length in mind. They will shrink when you wash them the first few times.
