Is there a difference between Organic and Fairtrade cotton?

Only cotton from developing countries can be marked as Fairtrade cotton, which includes India, for example, but not Turkey, where we source most of the cotton used in our denim. Fairtrade cotton is not organic by definition, and organic cotton fields might not be Fairtrade-certified. Fairtrade regulates the social aspects of cotton production, while GOTS or OCS regulate the environmental aspects. We prefer both Fairtrade AND organic cotton where possible, which includes for example all jersey made in India with our suppliers Armstrong and Suvastra.
