Audit Procedures

We always make social audits and follow-ups following the FAIR WEAR FOUNDATION (FWF) requirements at all of our manufacturing suppliers. This includes every step of the garmentproduction, from stitching to laundry and packing units. We also check their subcontractors if and where applicable.

The audits done in Tunisia, Romania, Turkey and India are made by Fair Wear Foundations own audit teams. In Italy and Portugal, the audits are conducted by MELISA CERIZZA, who follow the procedures of FWF audit methodology. Once we start the follow-up process after the audit, the suppliers and subcontractors are given limited time to make the improvements we request. The timeframe is something we discuss together with the supplier, whether one, three or six months are needed to apply these improvements. All audits are announced as we believe in good cooperation and an open dialogue with our suppliers.

In addition to audits, Nudie Jeans representatives visit our suppliers on a regular basis. Most of our suppliers and subcontractors carry out production all year around, but during production peaks we visit more often. Many of these visits are unannounced.

There is documentation of all our audit findings, for every unit where we have made audits, and/or are in the process of improving conditions. You can download a summary of these documents as PDFs. If you have any questions regarding the summary or the factories we work with, please contact us at CSR@NUDIEJEANS.COM

VEGETABLE TANNED LEATHER
When manufacturing leather, the hides must be tanned to keep them from decomposing. The process of vegetable tanning involves adding tannins, which binds to the collagen proteins of the hide. The tannin is extracted from tree bark. All our leather accessories are made from vegetable tanned leather. The vegetable tanning process is the most natural process, and it has been around since ancient times.

TRANSPORTATION
The transportation is generally arranged in the following ways: Fabrics are transported from Turkey to Italy by truck or freight. The finished product is then shipped from Italy by truck, train or truck on train, to our Swedish warehouse, KORALLEN. For direct deliveries in Europe we use truck; for direct deliveries to other overseas countries like USA, Japan and Australia we use airfreight. The products made in India, we ship to Europe using sea freight. All items sent to Sweden, and nearby destinations, are transferred through the warehouse Korallen. They have an environmental concern that includes waste handling and recycling of our packaging material.
