Denim enthusiast Daniel Bergman picked up his pair of Grim Tim Dry Selvage for his wedding party. After catching regular updates on Daniel’s denim dedicated Instagram account @redrawdenim, our curiosity got the better of us, and we had to see the jeans he had been posting about up close and personal. At the same time, we saw it as an excellent opportunity to meet the user behind this beautiful dry denim break-in journey. Daniel was kind enough to allow us to document our day with him, we got to see some local sites, grab some classic Swedish fika, and catch some fades. Daniel’s wedding party Grim Tims have surpassed 200 days of wear, and they still haven’t been washed. In this episode of The Naked Truth About you can find out how parental leave can determine how your denim rotation looks and if Daniel plans to ever drop his Grim Tims in the laundry basket. Nudie Jeans presents The Naked Truth About Daniel Bergman — Dalarna, Sweden.
Geoff and Doug have been serving Newcastle’s fashion familiar since 1987. Their infectious aura is enough to convert the most dubious denim-heads and has done so for 33 years. Indigo flows through the veins of this establishment and will do so for years to come. Their long-devoted service to Menswear is a triumph. But once you’ve experienced shopping at Union you instantly understand why. The most enjoyable shopping experience you’ll probably ever have. Union is located at 35 High Bridge, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom. ABOUT LOCAL HEROES We work with some of the best independent retailers across the globe. They are an amazing assortment with a wide range of concepts and characteristics. Some have been around for a long time and others are the next generation. The one thing they all have in common is Nudie Jeans. They have all, in one way or another helped to build this brand, so we wanted to highlight them, and there is no better time than now.
Gritty Jackson is a regular straight fit with a mid-waist and zip fly. It is designed to sit at the hip and give room from the seat down to the leg opening. Its well-balanced legroom gives the fit a neat silhouette while also offering great comfort. This is our modern take on what we consider to be the most classic and versatile jeans fit ever.
Nudie Jeans and Amsterdam based high-end denim establishment Tenue de Nîmes collaborate for the launch of an exclusive limited edition (100pcs) option in the new Nudie Jeans fit ‘Gritty Jackson‘. Tenue de Nîmes and Nudie Jeans work actively for the future of denim, and both brands are dedicated to making a positive change in the denim industry. Whilst this collaboration is the birth of a new fit within the Nudie Jeans family, the naked truth about sustainability remained the focus throughout the process. Both are in agreement that the search for sustainability begins with oneself and the fact that what you purchase, wear, and how you take care of your garments is equally as important as how the garment is produced. The production of denim around the world have always been singled out and labeled ‘unsustainable’. We at Tenue de Nîmes believe jeans are the bright blue future of our wardrobe. Why? Because to us, there is no piece of clothing more sustainable than wearing a pair of raw denim jeans. So let us embrace the naked truth about sustainability and start wearing those rigid jeans for many years to come” states Menno van Meurs, Tenue de Nîmes Founder. As leaders in sustainable fashion, the Nudie Jeans eco cycle (Break-in, Repair, Re-use, Recycle) has long been documented, and the eco cycle is connected directly to the raw denim heritage. The result of the collaboration is an exclusive option in a new straight jeans fit using high-quality Japanese selvage fabric, crafted in one of the best denim factories in Italy. The jeans also come with a guarantee of free lifetime repairs. “We saw an opportunity to improve and fill a void within our fit-range by introducing a classic regular straight fit that is not too slim nor too relaxed. Gritty Jackson is our take on that. It is our most wearable and versatile fit to date — especially seeing how the jeans trend has shifted from slim to a wider silhouette” explains Martin Gustafsson, Nudie Jeans Head Designer. Nudie Jeans x Tenue de Nîmes ‘Gritty Jackson’ Dry Ace Selvage released exclusively at tenuedenimes.com and both Tenue de Nîmes stores in Amsterdam, September 2, 2020.

The extraordinary circumstances that we all have experienced over the past months highlight how companies and individuals act. At Nudie Jeans, to act ethically and responsibly toward customers, suppliers, and retailers, is not a new thing for us — even before COVID-19, we have always operated with responsibility and with firm commitments at our core. Taking action and accountability is now expected to be the “new standard” in ethical business practice, which we fully support. After all, we still believe that we’ll work this out together. We have followed the developments closely in each country for our own retail staff — trying to be as pragmatic and positive to our team as possible during this extraordinary time. Towards our wholesale partners, we have had a flexible approach to ensure that they are in the best possible position to sell our products once they begin to re-open. In our supply chain, we have had a close dialogue with our suppliers, paid manufacturers for finished goods, and goods in production. We have not canceled orders. Also, we prefinanced organic cotton seeds, prepaid fabrics, made advance payments for salaries (at our suppliers) as well as being flexible about delivery dates. We continue to monitor the developments in each country and acting responsibly towards all our stakeholders. We support many of the global initiatives released during this time. These include the ILO – Call for Action, the COVID-19 statement from the MSI’s including Fair Wear Foundation, The Ethical Fashion Report’s COVID Fashion commitments In addition, we signed up for the 2020 Circular Fashion pledge committing to help achieve the U.N. Sustainable Development Goal 12 and to increase the work towards a more sustainable and responsible industry.
The Nudie Jeans ‘Curated By‘ series continues with a selection of gems from Fine Little Day.
Meet Michael Lundin, around here; he is also known as Micke or Mike. He is our very own “repair guy,” and much like the rest of the Nudie Jeans team, Micke has played a vital role in the launch of the Re-use online project. Mike is responsible not only for the curation of the drops that you see on nudiejeans.com but all the repairs, alterations, and embroidered art that features on the Re-use drops. An incredible contribution to what has become our most sustainable product. If some of our longtime readers feel that you may have met Mike previously or seen this behind the scenes gem before, you very well might have. But in times like these, we wanted to remind you of the value of the eventual piece of clothing in your closet that’s just one repair session away from getting back into your rotation. Shouldn’t we all be more like Mike? Sign up for news on upcoming Re-use drops and other news here.
Transparency has, and always will be a cornerstone for us as a brand. Hear Kevin explain what tools we use to be as transparent as possible.
It is with great pride that we introduce the great and powerful Maria (Erixon) Levin. Maria is the artistic advisor and co-founder of Nudie Jeans. In this episode of ‘The Naked Truth About,’ we capture an intimate look at how Maria goes about her workday. We hear Maria reflect on the essence of Nudie Jeans, denim, and jeans as a garment. As we go behind the scenes, we visit Maria in the design studio at Nudie Jeans HQ and her creative studio on Sweden’s west coast. We learn how the classic Nudie Jeans orange thread came about and how we eventually ended up working with the legendary Kaihara selvage denim fabricators. “There’s almost nothing as timeless as a pair of jeans. They can be worn by babies… you can even be buried in your jeans.” The company started 19 years ago and since then Maria has lived a life of artistic output through her denim designs and sustainable ambitions, her vision, and passion for denim have been some of the driving forces behind the brand. In 2019 Maria released her debut book ‘Start Your Own F*cking Brand‘ (available in English and Swedish). Nudie Jeans presents The Naked Truth About Maria (Erixon) Levin — Gothenburg, Sweden.
From 20th to 26th April, Fashion Revolution Week will be held again worldwide to raise awareness for those who made our clothes and under what conditions. While brands and retailers are struggling to keep their business afloat, on the other end of the supply chain, workers risk being subject to massive layoffs. In countries with no or limited social security network, many garment workers are dependent on their daily income, the work in the factory brings. The future for many garment workers is under normal circumstances insecure, and in these times even more so. In the unpredictable times, it is impossible to highlight the #whomademyclothes campaign without mentioning the severe impact the COVID-19 crisis has for the people who make our clothes. We are well aware of this, and we follow the developments closely in our production countries and the suppliers we work with to see how this is impacting the employees of our suppliers. Fashion Revolution Week 2020 is more relevant than ever. For Nudie Jeans, transparency has been and will continue to be a top priority, resulting in knowledge about the actual working conditions within our supply chain. We do not only care about WHO made our clothes but HOW they are made and under WHAT circumstances. This transparency begins at the cotton field and followed closely through every step of the production to the end consumer. Our commitment to improving conditions in the supply chain, through the Fair Wear Foundation membership, helps us reveal the non-compliances and set the priority to remediate the issues. So we can contribute to a better working environment for all people involved in Nudie Jeans garment production. Fair Wear Foundation keeps following the COVID-19 developments in the production countries, providing resources and advice to the member brands on how to act. Also, over the last 12 months, we have worked to increase the payment for our share of living wages to employees at Indian suppliers. We could also see the Female Supervisor Training, funded by Nudie Jeans, had a significant impact on the employees as well as the productivity in the factory where this training is implemented. COVID-19 crisis or not, our commitment to the sustainable production of our garments will always be high on our agenda. We encourage our readers to ask their favorite brands #whomademyclothes? For further reading on our new transparency commitment, development of the living wage payments, and how we work to improve the conditions in the supply chain — keep an eye out for the 2019 Sustainability Report that will be published online soon.
