Black Selvage
We have three black selvages. They fade at different speeds depending on how deeply the warp yarns are dyed. When the dye stays near the surface, it wears away quickly, revealing the white core. When it reaches deeper, that takes longer. And when the yarn is dyed all the way through, there’s no white core to reveal, so it barely fades.

Our three black selvages have black yarns in both directions: the warp runs lengthways, and the weft runs across. How they fade comes down to two things: how deep the dye goes and how well it holds its colour, known as colourfastness.
When dye stays near the yarn’s surface, wear rubs away the coloured outer fibres and reveals the lighter core. When the dye goes deeper, this takes longer.
